Established in 2000, IGNIS was founded to commercialize pioneering pixel circuit research for AMOLED backplanes begun at the University of Waterloo, Canada. It is currently a leading intellectual property creator and technology development company in the emerging and fast growing Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) display industry, part of the $100B flat panel display market.
Following two decades of heavy investment and intensive research by the biggest players in the display industry, AMOLED displays are now coming to the market in small to medium devices such as mobile phones and mp4 players, with large area televisions just around the corner. The AMOLED display market is forecast to grow to over $3B by 2010.
IGNIS is recognized in the industry as an innovative and pioneering group of engineers and scientists who have built a world class portfolio of IP and design expertise involving pixel circuits and driving know-how for AMOLED displays. The company is an open source, one-stop technology-enabler for AMOLED displays, who intends to license its solutions throughout the well established supply chains of the flat panel industry.
